We pride ourselves on offering all of our students free, independent, impartial careers, education, information, advice and guidance about their best next steps.
We deliver a full programme of careers-related activities to inform, inspire and motivate our students using the eight Gatsby Benchmarks – the framework for good career guidance.
In 2022, Bishop Burton College was re-awarded the Quality in Careers Standard (QiCS). The QiCS is the single national quality award for careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) in schools, colleges and work-based learning.
To achieve QiCS, we submitted our CEIAG programme for rigorous external assessment and accreditation by the Licensed Awarding Body.
By achieving the externally assessed QiCS students, you can be confident that the careers support we provide will help you to gain the knowledge, skills and confidence you need to take control of your future.
In 2022, Riseholme College was re-awarded the Matrix Standard in Advice and Guidance. Matrix recognises an extremely high quality of service provided to students and is used as a quality assurance tool, with annual continuous improvement checks and self-assessment practices monitoring year-on-year improvements.
Riseholme College is a member of the Greater Lincolnshire Careers Hub. The Careers Hub brings together schools and colleges to work together with employers, careers professionals, universities and training providers to improve careers education.
We work with LMI Humber and the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) to access high-quality information about the local Labour Market.
Current LMI can help you to understand:
- Where the jobs are locally
- Which sectors/jobs are increasing and which are declining
- Which skills will be needed in the future
Check out the careers section on our course pages to help you understand the local opportunities that they could lead to.
We are proud of the effective and close relationships we have established with multiple agencies and local authorities to ensure the needs of our students are met. We comply with statutory requirements and duties to share information about learners’ experiences, transitions and destinations.
We work with multiple local authority special educational needs and disability (SEND) teams to ensure that any learners who are looking to study with us receive individual and tailored careers information, advice and guidance, frequently identified by school staff, parents/guardians or agency staff carrying out the student’s annual review process. CEIAG continues to be delivered during the student’s time at college with 1:1 interviews guaranteed for all EHCP students up until the age of 24.
