It is a wide-ranging, engaging programme that will introduce you to the key values, skills and qualities required to work in care environments.

Course Information

You will need four GCSEs at grade 3 or equivalent, preferably including English and Maths. A satisfactory reference and clear Disclosing and Barring Service (DBS) check are also required.

You will learn through a mix of theory and practical work, guest speakers and relevant visits.

You will normally be in college three days a week.

You will undertake 30 hours of work experience.
You will be assessed through assignments and external exams.
You will be able to progress on to the Level 3 programme.
Work in a specialised area of care, such as learning disability or mental health, in social or youth work, in the public or private health and care sectors, in drug and alcohol counselling, in victim support or offending teams, in community care and many more.
