The course will prepare you for employment in the uniformed public services, whilst also ensuring you have the relevant knowledge and skills to progress to higher education should you wish to continue your studies.

The course covers many physical elements of self-defence and restraint, sports coaching, fitness, mental and physical wellbeing, adventurous training in water and land-based activities, ending in a three day expedition.

It includes work experience with a range of public services to build your experience and allow you to explore career options.You will have the chance to progress through different pathways Certificate, Diploma and Extended Diploma - to gain UCAS points to progression to degree level study.

Year 2

  • Collaboration between uniformed public services
  • Volunteering in the uniformed services
  • Understanding the impact of war and conflict on uniformed public services
  • Outdoor expedition

Four GCSEs at grade 4 or equivalent, preferably including English and Maths.

Three days a week.

You will be expected to find a suitable one week placement in the unifromed service industry.
Students are assessed using a variety of methods, including presentations, written reports, role plays, voice recordings, video presentations, practical sessions, observations and posters.
  • College uniform: polo shirt, hoodie, cargo pants and boots. Oher outdoor equipment may be needed.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to progress to degree level study. The college has a strong reputation for producing excellent graduates.
You will be able to progress to careers within the UK armed forces or emergency services.
