Jessica Makin

Jessica is currently studying Health and Social Care,, a course she first discovered when attending an Open Event at Riseholme College. With ambitions of becoming a paediatric nurse or midwife, she chose Riseholme as her first choice due to its welcoming atmosphere, expert tutors, and ideal college size—big enough to offer great opportunities but not overwhelming.

Since starting the course, Jessica has found the topics engaging and insightful, fueling her passion for healthcare. She particularly enjoyed studying the Ages and Stages of Development unit, which explores the entire human lifespan and directly connects to her future career aspirations.

Beyond academic knowledge, this course has also helped Jessica develop essential independence, organisational skills, and time management, equipping her with valuable skills for both university and the workplace. She is excited to continue learning and expanding her expertise in preparation for her future in healthcare.
