Understanding Our Courses
Libby has always wanted to work with animals and our Level 2 Animal Care and Welfare Assistant apprenticeship gave her the opportunity to advance in the career she's always dreamed of.
"My Animal Care and Welfare Assistant (Level 2) Apprenticeship at Riseholme College was the best choice I have ever made. It gave me the opportunity to advance in a career I had dreamed of while learning. This was a life-changing experience.
Working with animals has always been my passion, and during my apprenticeship, it became my everyday role. The hands-on experience of caring for and understanding animals was invaluable. I spent 14 months working as an Animal Keeper at a wildlife park, where I gained practical skills and insights into animal behaviour and welfare that cannot be learned from books alone.
As an apprentice, I was fully supported by my assessors and tutors. They guided me through the coursework, provided knowledge and learning relevant to my qualification and job role, and offered advice and mentoring at any time. Their support and understanding were crucial to my success.
Thanks to the skills and experience gained during my apprenticeship, I am now moving on to my next role as an animal technician. I am excited about the future and confident in my ability to excel in this new position.
A big thank you to Emily Farnell, my coach and assessor, and Sarah Benton, my functional skills tutor. Their dedication and support made this journey possible and helped me achieve my dreams."
